THE PLACE FOR ME (2018)
Despite growing up in Jamaica Elrick Thompson has always dreamed of moving to England. He's always read English Novels, Sung old English Hymns and had a British flag on his bedroom wall. So naturally, when young men from across the Caribbean receive the call to join the fight against Hitler's regime Elrick is first in line. In the aftermath of the war and with a deficit work in Caribbean it feels like fate when word spreads about a ship that will take him all the way to London.
Has Elrick finally found the place for him?
Lightpost explore the impact of the Windrush - the ship that carried the first Caribbean migrants to the UK in 1948 - the start of modern British multiculturalism.
